Understanding Cancer

4/14/2015

by Brendan Kelly

In my experience as an acupuncturist and herbalist, it’s very possible to address a significant diagnosis like cancer by waging peace, rather than the more common western medical approach of waging war on the condition. For Chinese medicine, an underlying issue with cancer is the diagnosis of heat which causes an over-proliferation of unhealthy cells. Rather than looking only at the symptom itself, in Chinese medicine we look to where the symptom is coming from.

Brendan Kelly, M. Ac., L. Ac. is a western herbalist with over 20 years experience, including 12 years experience with acupuncture and Chinese herbs. He practices full-time at the clinic he founded, Jade Mountain Wellness. He is an adjunct professor at Johnson State College and on the faculty at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture. For the past decade, he has integrated the deep-reaching diagnostic and treatment traditions of Chinese medicine with the potency of local, western herbs. In September, 2015 his first book will be released, “The Yin and Yang of Climate Crisis: Healing Personal, Cultural and Ecological Imbalance with Chinese Medicine.” He teaches and lectures nationally about Chinese medicine, western herbs and environmental issues.
